Objectives (from the project proposal)
Normative- To define the reference model as the organising framework for CEFACT standards. Updating the ebTA from 1999 and in accordance with the open-EDI reference model.
- To define the relationships between all CEFACT technical and business standards - positioning them within the reference model.
- To define dependencies on external standards (eg that the XML NDR depends on W3C XMl Schema)
Informative
- To define CEFACT "release packages" as a set of compatible specific versions of technical and business standards.
- To identify gaps in CEFACT standards that, if filled, will add value to the CEFACT product (eg WS* profile for UMM).
- To publish this information as a navigable model to the TMG website and to maintain it on a regular basis.
Purpose
- To integrate CEFACT standards into a common reference model in order to ensure consistency and completeness.
Scope
- All CEFACT Technical specifications
Requirements List
| Number | Category | Name | Description | Comment | Contributor |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Conceptual Reference Model | Update the 1999 ebTA to reflect current developments within CEFACT. the reference model to provide a framework for classifying and positioning CEFACT standards and the external standards upon which CEFACT specifications depend (eg XML Schema, UML, 11197, etc) | Initial requirement for the EBAS project. | | |
| 2 | Dependencies & packagng | To populate the reference model with the actual collection of specific CEFACT specifications - defining dependencies between them and on external standards. Collecting consistent sets of specifications together into "release packages". | Requirement stated by Ian Watt, MRI chair and Australia HoD. Steve Capell listed as contributor until Ian registers on this site. | | |
| 3 | Integrated Meta-Model | A more detailed and granular expression of requirement #2. To collect together formalised MOF expressions of the formal meta-model behind all CEFACT technical specifications. To integrate these meta-models into a consistent and extensible framework. Publish the integrated meta-models as MOF, UML, and XML Schema (based on XMI). | Requirement stated by Mikkel Brun and Peter Borresen representing Danish government & UBL. Steve Capell listed as contributor until Mikkel / Peter register on this site.
The XML schema version (generated from MOF according to XMI 2.1) is effectively a schema for interchange of models (eg process models, core component libraries, etc). | |
