Core Components Technical Specification Update

- Part 8 of the ebXML Framework*

1. Objectives

1.1 Purpose

The purpose of the project is to produce the next version of the Core Components Technical Specification (CCTS) - Part 8 of the ebXML Framework, taking into account comments received during the implementation verification period of Version 1.95, comments submitted by UN/CEFACT TBG17 and comments submitted by implementers and users of CCTS Version 2.01.

1.2 Scope

Electronic Business activities related within the mission and objectives of UN/CEFACT and its groups.

2. Deliverables

The Core Components Technical Specification - Part 8 of the ebXML Framework that describes and specifies a technology neutral methodology for developing a common set of semantic building blocks that represent the general types of business data in use today and provides for the creation of new business vocabularies and restructuring of existing business vocabularies.

3. Functional Expertise of Membership

Membership is open to experts with broad knowledge and experience in the areas of national and international business processes and information exchanges crossing multiple vertical industry and service sectors, the functions of UN/CEFACT, and its groups, as well as representation from the technical development and implementation community. In addition Heads of Delegations may invite technical experts from their constituency to participate in the work. Experts are expected to contribute to the work based solely on their expertise and to comply with the UN/CEFACT Code of Conduct.

4. Geographical Focus

The focus is global and cuts across vertical industries. The project recognizes the need to support both large and small businesses that utilize a variety of languages.

5. Initial Contributions

The following contributions are submitted as part of this proposal. It is understood that these contributions are only for consideration by the project team and that other participants may submit additional contributions in order to ensure that as much information as possible is obtained from those with expertise and a material interest in the project:

6. Statement of resource requirements

Participants in the project shall provide resources for their own participation. The existence and functioning of the project shall not require any additional resources from the UN/ECE secretariat.
