UN/CEFACT TMG is pleased to announce that the UPCC (UML Profile for Core Components) Specification Version 1.0 has finished public review and is now entering implementation verification phase, wich is the 6th step of ODP (Open Development Process).
The UPCC project was formerly known as BCSS (Business Collaboration Specification Schema)project. This project is especially focused on developing a formal UML profile for CCTS based artefacts consisting of stereotypes, tagged values and OCL constraints. Another aspect of the project is to prove feasiblity of the exchange of CCTS based Core-Component models based on UML between different UML-tools using XMI Version 2.1 in the reference implementation of Eclipse (EMF-UML2-XMI-format). First tests with data models have shown that the following tools support the EMF-UML2-XMI-format and can exchange models with the Eclipse reference implementation.
- Magic Draw 12 (NoMagic)
- Rational Software Modeler 7.0 (IBM)
- Together 2006 Rel.2 (Borland)
- Agilian 1.0
- Eclipse UML Studio Edition 2.1.1 (Omondo)
- Visual Pardigm prof. 6.0
These tests will be continued in implementation verification.
UN/CEFACT has an open approach to developing its standards. This open approach has five goals:
- Openness - All specifications must be open, free of any constraints or restrictions associated with intellectual property rights (IPR).
- World - wide Participation - All interested parties should have the opportunity to review, comment on, and contribute to Technical Specifications.
- Speed - In an area increasingly moving "at Internet speed", it is vitally important that the process of developing specifications be speedy so that the resultant specifications are relevant to the needs of the industry, developers, and users.
- Compatibility - Technical Specifications must not depend on features that are available only on one application or industry specification. Software developers and end-users around the world must be able to depend on technical applications that can be implemented the same way, and give the same results, on all hardware platforms and operating systems.
- Technical Excellence - UN/CEFACT working groups will develop all Technical Specifications with the active participation of experts, and liaisons.
The UN/CEFACT Open Development Process (ODP) calls for a eight step approach to developing UN/CEFACT Standards. These eight steps are:
- Proposal
- Requirements Determination
- First Draft
- Working Drafts
- Public Review
- Implementation Verification
- Approval The UN/CEFACT
- Maintenance
The ODP step 6, the implementation verification review starts by today. Comments from implementation verifications are kindly requested until 31st August, 2007. Interested parties are asked to review the document for technical correctness and submit comments using provided submission template.
